We find ourselves everywhere and nowhere.
John is the deadpan Wisconsinite who looks for boundaries to push. Liz is the Michigander with visible emotions and tasteful restraint. Together, we’ve lived in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles (twice), and Chicago (twice), with kids in tow on several of those adventures. Our wanderlust means we don’t know where we belong, but we’re figuring out the places we love most. Door County is one of them, maybe because it feels like multiple destinations, with its two coasts, ecological diversity, and the feeling of being both on and off the grid. We bought this A-frame on the bluff as our escape in all seasons, and it will always be a work in progress—because that’s how we like it. Here’s a glimpse of the work we’ve done so far.

If we'd kept the boxes, we could have bought less furniture.
Freshly painted inside and out, with a palette inspired by midcentury Eichler homes.
Honey, someone took our deck.
Oh, there it is.
The house came with this lookout tower. Fun concept, rickety execution.
In honor of the tower's service, we added two new outdoor features.
Sign's up. No changing the name now.
Time for a water break. Note the absence of devices.
Almost ready for you.
